PRK vision correction surgery experience: surgery recap and results after 6-months

Today I am going to be interviewing Marwin about his PRK procedure. For those who don’t know what PRK is, it is a type of refractive surgery to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. It’s the first type of laser eye surgery for vision correction and is the predecessor to the popular LASIK procedure. I’ve actually had Lasik done, but I am curious to hear about peoples’ PRK experience.

He had his surgery done at by the San Francisco 49ers LASIK surgeon Scott Hyver.

Questions we answer:

Q: How is your vision these days?

Q: Why did you pick PRK over the more popular Lasik option? My understanding is that PRK is better for people with naturally thinner corneas, higher amounts of nearsightedness, or both.

Q: Which doctor did you go with and why?

Q: What did they tell you in terms of preparing for the surgery? Did you feel nervous?

Q: How did the surgery go for you?

Q: What were you told about recovery? Was recovery difficult?

Q: Do you mind sharing how you financed the surgery?

Q: Do you recommend the procedure?

Thank you again Marwin for coming to share your story as part of our health experiences series.
